<image:caption>Bruce Lang Bruce started Osteopathic practice in 1979. He is the founder of Sydney Osteopathy which he started in 1993, based in Bondi Junction. With over 40 years of practice, Bruce has developed a very eclectic style of treatment, which incorporates a variety of techniques from his postgraduate studies. Central to Bruce’s practice is the ability to palpate pathological changes within the tissues. This is the basic skill of an Osteopath and, to a certain degree, distinguishes us from other medical professions. Putting your hands on countless unwell bodies trains the fingers to differentiate between very small changes in the tissue, aiding in accurate diagnoses and directed treatment. Perhaps the most important approach to treatment was acquired from an ‘old-time’ practitioner in Melbourne. Over many years, Bruce observed and worked alongside his mentor. They would eventually develop what they have called the ‘neurovascular technique’, which involves gentle manipulation to free up the nerve pathways, lymph and blood vessels.</image:caption>

Your osteopathic treatment will start with a detailed history of your complaint and a physical examination. Once a preliminary diagnosis is established it will be explained and then treatment will commence. All of our osteopaths have a hands on approach to treatment using a variety of modalities. You can expect hands on treatment like soft tissue massage, stretching, joint mobilisation, manipulation, exercise rehabilitation and lifestyle advice.</image:caption>

It is similar to acupuncture in that a small needle is inserted into the muscle to cause a change in the tissue. But it is not done using the traditional chinese medicine approach. Dry needling needles will be placed in areas that have tender points or trigger points as opposed to meridian or energy lines in order to cause a localised tissue response to stimulate healing.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Infrared Light Therapy - Infrared Light Therapy</image:title>
<image:caption>Infrared light improves the circulation of oxygen-rich blood in the body, promoting faster healing of deep tissue, relieving pain & reducing inflammation. One of the characteristics of infrared light is its ability to penetrate below the skin layers, providing a much greater depth which is able to effectively provide pain relief. In fact, this invasive, natural, and painless method can provide a vast range of health benefits, without damaging the skin through UV. Infrared light penetrates to the inner layers of the skin at about 2 to 7 centimetres deep. Hence, it reaches the muscles, nerves and even the bones.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Shockwave Therapy - Shockwave Therapy</image:title>
<image:caption>Shockwave Therapy is a state of the art treatment designed to accelerate healing for chronic musculoskeletal conditions. This non-invasive therapy uses targeted acoustic waves (not electric shocks!) to stimulate blood flow, promote collagen production, and encourage tissue regeneration. It is an ideal option for injuries that haven't responded to conventional treatments, offering patients a faster recovery and reduced pain without the need for extended downtime. Shockwave therapy has studies showing that it can help a variety of conditions, including plantar fasciitis, achilles tendinopathy, tennis and golfer’s elbow, calcific shoulder tendonitis, greater trochanteric pain syndrome, osgood schlatter's disease, shin splints, osteoarthritis and patellar tendinopathy. By addressing the root cause of pain and inflammation, it can help restore function and improve mobility in just a few sessions. Shockwave therapy has been shown in dozens of studies to reduce recovery time and enhance long-term outcomes for patients. With results often seen in 3 to 6 sessions, shockwave therapy offers a reliable and efficient path to recovery for chronic pain sufferers. If you're struggling with persistent pain, contact our clinic to learn if shockwave therapy can help you regain an active, pain-free lifestyle. You can book shockwave therapy with osteopaths Dr Marcus Araujo and Dr Daniel Turner.</image:caption>
